Monday: How is cloud hosting like makeup by subscription?

Good evening, Calitech™ friends and partners. I’m writing from New York City, where I’m attending the Fast Company Innovation Festival. This is a wonderful event with amazing speakers and on-site demonstrations, and much of what I’m seeing is consistent with our own Calitech™ practices and our culture of innovation and continuous improvement (kaizen, in Japanese).

This morning we heard from Katia Beauchamp, co-founder of Birchbox, the beauty by subscription company. Katia said that successful companies start with the premise that the customer is smart and well informed. You need to respect that and be open to evolving accordingly. This has certainly always been our philosophy at Calitech™. Our partners and customers are smart and, since we start with the idea that we want to have a long-term, win-win relationship with them, we have evolved wonderful relationships that have led to growth and innovation on both sides.

We also heard from the amazing designers at the PepsiCo Design and Innovation Center in Manhattan, as well as from Dwayne (the Rock) Johnson and the WME (William Morris Endeavor, the great Beverly Hills-based talent agency) co-CEOs. All in all, it was a great day to celebrate innovation at all levels: domestic start-ups, multinational corporations and the world of entertainment. I’m sure that tomorrow will be the same or even better. I’ll keep in touch and share my learnings every day. Good night everyone!
